What is the difference between Fort Langley, The Township of Langley, and the City of Langley?

Fort Langley actually forms a part of the Township of Langley. It is on the northern edge and has a population of 3,400 people.

The Township of Langley is a district municipality that is adjacent to the City of Langley. Although they are close to each other, the Township of Langley is a separate political entity than the City of Langley.

Fort Langley real estate differs quite a bit from the residential buildings you’ll find in the City of Langley. The rich heritage that Fort Langley is known for, stems from the early 1800’s when the city was a major port for exporting goods. The Hudson Bay Company used the port to export things such as salted salmon, cedar lumber, and shingles.

Many of the old buildings around the city have been restored. Since Fort Langley is a rural setting, all new buildings must follow strict style and construction guidelines. This ensures they match the heritage appearance.
